Privacy Policy of Prout App

Welcome to Prout (hereinafter "the App"). We take the privacy of your data very seriously. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data Controller

The App is published by The Prout Corporation (hereinafter "We").

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the data strictly necessary for the operation of the sound notification service between friends.

A. Data You Provide

• Username (Required): Your public username visible to your friends.
• Email Address (Required): Used solely for authentication (account creation, login) and password recovery.
• Phone Number (Optional): Used to allow you to be found by friends who have you in their contact list.
• Full Name (Optional): If you choose to provide it, it may be shared with your friends to confirm your identity.

B. Data Collected Automatically

• Device ID and Notification Token (Push Token): Necessary to deliver sound notifications ("Prouts") to your phone via Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM) services.
• Technical Data: Phone model, operating system version (iOS/Android) for technical debugging.

C. Access to Contacts (Address Book)

The App asks for permission to access your phone contacts.

• Purpose: This access serves solely to check if your contacts are already using the "Prout" App to automatically add them to your friends list.
• Privacy: We do not store your complete address book on our servers. We send phone numbers securely (hashed or encrypted during transit) to perform a match with our user base, and then the result is returned. Contacts who do not use the application are neither contacted nor recorded.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Log you in: Secure account management via Supabase.
• The "Prout" Service: Send and receive instant sound notifications.
• Connection: Allow you to find your friends and be found.
• Support: Respond to your requests via email.

We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.

4. Sharing and Processors

To operate the App, we use trusted third-party services. Your data may pass through their servers:

• Supabase (Database & Auth): Secure hosting of user accounts.
• Expo (Mobile Infrastructure): Technical service for sending Push notifications.
• Google Firebase (FCM): Delivery of notifications on Android.
• Apple (APNs): Delivery of notifications on iOS.
• Render: Hosting of our backend server.

These providers are subject to strict security and confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Deletion and Your Rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have a right to access, modify, and delete your data.

How to delete your account?

You can request the complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time:

1. By sending us a simple email at hello@theproutapp.com.
2. Via the "Delete my account" button in the App settings.

Once the request is processed, all your data (username, phone, email, friends, history) is permanently erased from our servers.

6. Security

All communications between the App and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS/SSL). Your passwords are never stored in plain text; they are hashed and secured by our authentication provider.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be available via the App or on our website.
